Changing or adding a workplace2026
Depending on your status, you either report afterwards or must get permission in advance.
How it works
Check whether your status/occupation needs a report or prior permission.
For EPS (E-9), go through the Employment Center first.
With the new contract and the company's business registration, report or apply within the deadline.
At a glance
- Most professionals such as E-7 holders report a workplace change/addition within 15 days, but some occupations need prior permission (Art. 21). Confirmed by official source
- E-9 workplace changes go through the Employment Center, limited to 3 times in the first 3 years and 2 times in the extended period (changes due to employer fault are not counted); reforms may be under way. Confirmed by official source
- The fee for permission to change or add a workplace is given as KRW 120,000 (per a report on the 1 Jan 2014 fee increase). Confirmed by official source
Document checklist
- Integrated application form (from HiKorea or the office)
- Passport
- Residence (alien registration) card
- Employment contract
- Copy of the employer's business registration
- Certificate of employment
Typical documents only. They vary by sub-type and office — check HiKorea's status manuals and the office (needs checking).

Certificate of employment (Korean/English) →Companies can draft a Korean/English certificate of employment for a foreign employee. Employer's letter of authorization →Draft authorization for a company to let one of its staff submit or collect documents about a foreign employee (Korean + English).Where to apply

- Missing the 15-day reporting deadline
FAQ
Will my company file it for me?
Companies often prepare documents, but you are responsible for the duty and deadline. Ask the office who may submit it.
